It's Another Gold Medal For Putney Gymnast

Next stop Russia for the World Championships

It was a fantastic weekend at Loule in the Algarve for Putney gymnast, Georgie Forbes. The British Champion came away with the gold medal and is now looking to Saint Petersburg on the Baltic Sea in November.

Georgie will travel to Russia in November as part of the GB team next week to compete in the World Age Group Championships. She told this website: " I had a great time competing in Loule, it’s always a fun competition and I’m really happy to have won the gold medal. I’ve got lots of hard training now before I compete at the worlds in Russia but it’s really nice to have had another successful competition".

Kath Small, GB coach said: ""The Loule Cup was a great success for the GB tumbling team and in particular for Georgie who won in the 13-15 age category. Georgie was in first place after the qualification round & managed to hold that position in the final - beating the current 11-12 World Champion from Australia in the process who has moved into the age category. This was her first full international gold medal and she can now prepare for the forthcoming World Champs in Russia in November with confidence".

Tumbling is a form of acrobatic activity that involves flips, jumps, rolls, somersaults and handsprings linked together into performance routines and usually performed on a padded floor and choreographed to music. In many ways, a tumbling routine is similar to the floor exercise in gymnastics, although it does not include as many elements of formal dance. Unlike the other elements of gymnastics, tumbling uses no special equipment such as a vault or pommel horse.
