A British Transport Police (BTP) spokeswoman said:
“BTP officers were called to Putney rail station on Saturday, 1 June, following a report that a man had been struck by a train.
“Officers from BTP and Metropolitan Police attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 10.24pm, and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
“Medics from London Ambulance Service also attended but 30-year-old Neil Skipper from Thornton Heath was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
Neil's father told the Croydon Advertiser that "the family have received support from friends and family and the community of Fulham Football Club, where Neil was a season ticket holder."
Neil's father, Philip, wrote on the club's fan forum: "I posted an appeal yesterday for help in finding my missing son. Huge thanks for all the messages of support and help. Unfortunately, we got the news we had all been dreading last evening. Neil's body was found on the line at Putney station."
