Putney school girl wins "Stepping Out" competition.

Present at the prize giving were the Mayor of Wandsworth, Leslie McDonnell, Nigel Coates, Managing Partner of Stepping Out organisers Russell-Cooke.

Stepping Out is a design competition open to Year 5 Pupils in Putney. Pupils are invited to submit a drawing or design that reflects his or her journey to school, with the winning design being printed onto T-shirts and given to each Year 5 pupil in the winning school.

'Stepping Out' supports 'Walk to School Week' by encouraging parents and schools to embrace the new initiative and promotes alternative travel arrangements as fun and beneficial to health and the environment.

Nigel Coates, Managing Partner at Russell-Cooke said:
"We at Russell-Cooke are always looking for ways of supporting the Putney community and so were delighted that Wandsworth Council asked for our support. This competition is a great opportunity for children in the area to express themselves and enables us to support 'Walk to School Week', as well as promoting civic pride, improving awareness of the local community and encouraging healthier modes of transport."

As part of the campaign an exhibition featuring some of the designs has been set up by Putney Children's Library. The exhibition will run from the 16th May until the middle of June.
