A treat for residents and a testament to the fish stock of the Thames?

A seal has been spotted off Putney between the two bridges this Friday afternoon (31 July). Julia Day from Brighton, who posted a video of the seal said it was feeding.
In 2013 a porpoise was spotted up stream from Putney and in 2011 another porpoise was found dead by Chiswick in 2011. Sixty years ago the Thames was deemed ‘biologically dead’, but it appears that seals are returning to our city’s river.
If you spot a seal you should report it to the ZSL Thames Marine Mammal Survey.
