Trip to develop links with sister school in Jaipur

Thirty girls from Putney High School left for two weeks in India this month, where they plan to strengthen existing links with Indian Maharani Gayatri Devi (MGD) Girls' School in Jaipur.

This will be the second leg of an exciting exchange programme developed by Putney High School and led by member of the Senior Leadership Team, Mrs Gillian John. Putney students were joined by thirty girls from the MGD School in July, when they visited some historic London landmarks and stayed with host families.

Students from a range of year groups will take in some incredible sights, from the popular Taj Mahal and Agra Fort to the lesser known Amber Fort. They will experience a different classroom environment as they shadow Indian pupils and will also partake in a work experience day, visiting either a local hospice, animal sanctuary or a school for students with learning disabilities.

Mrs John said of the visit, "We are thrilled to be able to reinforce our links with the MGD School and our students are really excited about the trip. This type of cross-cultural experience is an invaluable addition to the education we provide for girls here - and I'm sure this will be the first of many exchange trips to India."
