Four political candidates for Putney seat joining volunteers clearing litter from the area
Will Sweet (Cons), Sue Wixley (Lib Dem) Fleur Anderson (Lab) Fergal McEntee (Green) Paul Benton (Putney Tidy Towpath) and some of the 21 volunteers
Reminiscent of the First World War Christmas Truce, the four political candidates for Putney joined forces with 21 local volunteers from Putney Tidy Towpath (PTT) to fight the issue of non organic litter on the foreshore and towpath in the area. Really great morning with Putney Tidy Towpath group clearing plastics and non-organic waste from the Thames foreshore and towpath. #saynotoplastic #VoteGreen2019 pic.twitter.com/arl1waLRNE ?? Excellent to join Putney Tidy Tow Path team again. This great, friendly group of volunteers is looking after the river and local environment.
The four candidates engaged with the volunteers as the collected litter. Co-founder of PTT, Paul Benton told this website: "We were very pleased to welcome all four candidates and it gave our volunteers the opportunity to meet and quiz each of the candidates in regards to their policies and especially their stance on the environmental. Each of the candidates reported that they found the experience insightful and personally rewarding."
