at Granard School is most improved school in the borough
The aggregate score for year six pupils achieving the required level in English, Maths and Science went up from 181 last year to 257 in this summer's tests. Another school based in SW15 also recorded a significant advance as the Alton in Roehampton saw its tally rise from 185 to 224. The maximum aggregate score of 300 was achieved by just one school in the borough and that was once again Our Lady of Victories in Putney. Close on its heels was All Saints, Putney (290). Cabinet member for education Malcolm Grimston said: "It's encouraging to see our schools continuing to make such good progress. Some of the improvements this year have been little short of spectacular. Teachers and pupils alike deserve enormous credit for their achievements. "The boroughwide picture shows Wandsworth primaries continuing to improve and outperform the others in south London. It is particularly rewarding to see the significant progress made in maths where intensive activity in schools has led to a four point rise in results." Across the borough more than three-quarters of pupils are achieving the required standard in all three subjects compared to just half in 1996. December 13, 2004
