Council consults again after opposition to previous proposals

Wandsworth Council had decided to extend the Roehampton Controlled Parking Zone (R2 sub-zone) into Medfield Street, Treville Street and Ponsonby Road. This zone currently operates from 11.00am to 12 noon Monday to Friday.
However, the face of opposition from respondents from the Roehampton High Street area they are now asking for views on how parking should be arranged to best serve residents, businesses and their customers.
There are three options now being offered:
1) Extending either the Roehampton R1 or R2 sub-zones to the High Street
Both the R1 and R2 sub-zones operate for one-hour and are aimed at deterring long stay/commuter parking. Residents and businesses would be required to purchase and display a permit during the one hour and this would entitle the holder to park in all roads in the sub-zone. It would remain unrestricted at all other times.
2) Installing some Pay & Display parking bays for shoppers (if a CPZ is extended into the High Street)
Pay & Display Only bays are aimed at encouraging turnover of vehicles, by imposing a short maximum stay; one hour for example, to aid the businesses and to cater for those wishing to park locally who are not eligible for a permit. These bays would require payment using Pay & Display facilities or the Council’s pay by mobile phone service. It is proposed that the existing 1-hour free bay outside numbers 27-35 would be converted to Pay & Display and a new bay could be introduced outside numbers 36-40.
3) Leaving the road uncontrolled
Parking would remain free and unrestricted. This option would not entitle you to purchase (resident/business/visitor) permits to park in the R1 or R2 sub-zones. Only residents and businesses with an address within the zone are eligible for permits.
You can let the Council know your views by completing an online survey.
Comments must be received by Monday 18 June.
