Curry & Quiz Night raised over £2,500 toward the purchase of a mobility vehicle
A fundraiser event was held recently for the Paddock School, with every seat at the event taken and around £2,500 raised in ticket sales, donations and even bribes!!
The school is still very gratefully accepting donations.... with all funds going towards the purchase of a new Mobility Vehicle, which will enable the school to provide invaluable life skills experience for the pupils in the local community. Please see below if you’d like to make a donation, and help towards this exciting aim!
The organisers of the curry and quiz night, which also involved some hilarious games and some fairly competitive quiz-mastery, ingeniously raised an extra little bit by offering clues for extra donations – a great way of pushing up the final total raised, as well as helping teams get that high score! Funds were also raised through sales of beautiful hand-made Mother’s Day and other greetings cards which had been made by the pupils and were very popular – and timely!!
Residents may know that the Paddock School is a special school for pupils aged from 4-19 across two sites in Roehampton and Putney, currently with 200 pupils but hopefully rising to many more in coming years. The school’s aim is to “nurture, inspire and transform lives”, and it was rated Outstanding by Ofsted in 2016/2017.
The Executive Headteacher, Sarah Santos, said:“We are delighted that so many people very generously supported our evening. Putting on such a successful event took a huge amount of planning and preparation, and I am very grateful to the team who worked so hard behind the scenes to make the room look great, cook the food, arrange the tombola and the hundreds of other things that needed to be done to make the evening such a success. The event was a fantastic opportunity for the Paddock Community and supporters to share a lively and fun evening together. We are so grateful to all who made such generous donations with their time and money in order to raise funds for our new Mobility Vehicle. Our pupils love to get out into the community to use local facilities, and to have a vehicle to support them will be invaluable.”
Councillor Claire Gilbert, one of the local Roehampton Councillors who attended (and didn’t win the quiz!), said:“Paddock School has a fantastic place in the community of Roehampton & Putney, and I can thoroughly recommend its wonderful café which is open to the public, and which serves lovely cakes which are prepared with the students. The school is aiming high and taking important initiatives, for example working towards the Equalities Award to gain recognition of its work to promote equality of access and diversity in the school community. It is also working on retaining our gold award through UNICEF Accreditation. If you can, please do support their fundraising, and do pop in to the café on a Wednesday or Thursday to sample their wares for yourself!”.
Paddock School Café is open during term time on Wednesdays 10-12 and Thursdays 10-2, serving coffee & tea, light lunches, cakes and more, and it is available for hire for small lunch groups. If you might like to hold an event there, please contact Georgina Hania.
And if you’d like to make a donation to the school to help provide the new MPV which they need, please contact Gary Fogg on 020 8878 1521, or donate online.
Thank you in advance fr0m the school and pupils!
