ODEON Luxe Too Lux For Kids?

Families frustrated as Putney cinema drops 'Saturday morning Kids screening'

Following the three-month refurbishment over the summer, ODEON Putney has dropped the 'Saturday morning Kids screening' shows, resulting in a family of four paying £50 to watch a movie (£15 per adult and £10 per child).

The upgraded cinema offers 'new luxurious handmade reclining seats across all screens, with increased leg room and personal space for guests, as well as retractable tray tables to ensure ultimate comfort'. Does this mean that they are too smart for children to use?

Local mother Lauren Fleet wrote to Odeon and they responded: "The ODEON at Putney no longer participates in Kids Club due to the lack of demand for this in the cinema. ......We do have other cinemas in the area that still participate in the ODEON Kids club, including the ODEON at Richmond, Kingston and Wimbledon".

Lauren told this website: "I think it's terrible they've removed this from their weekly programme. It was always really popular and I went often with my daughter (it was always busy so what they've said about people not using it is nonsense). £50 to watch a kids movie is just too expensive for many families. Especially when all the other cinemas in the area all have a kids club screening for £2-3 per person!"

ODEON have not responded to our request to comment.
