Putney Odeon has been closed since 3rd September for a total refurbishment. In September, Lucy the manager told PutneySW15: "Putney Odeon will become a luxury cinema with new screens and sound systems and reclining seats in every screen. There will be the introduction of a bar with food service and a revamped Costa area".

In a recent variation application under section 34 of the Licensing Act 2003, the company has applied to

  • extend entertainment license to cover 9am - 4 am
  • extend the sale of alcohol to cover 11am - 1am
  • extend the sale of Late Night Refreshment from 11pm - 4am

Odeon Cinemas have not responded to a request to comment.

Following the lifting of by-election purdah Thamesfield councillor Rosemary Trrington told PutneySW15: "I have received copious emails from local residents about this and am concerned that the Odeon’s application to extend its license to provide regulated entertainment until 4am every night of the week will create an unwelcome precedent for the whole High Street which is immediately adjacent to residential homes. The Odeon is free use a TEN (temporary event notice) for one-off events without the need for a permanent extension to 4am every night".
