Work starts on National Tennis Centre


at the Bank of England Sports Ground


The centre is being built at the Bank of England sports ground in Priory Lane, Roehampton and it will provide training and medical facilities for 16 academy players aged 13-16, 38 intermediate players aged 16-18 and up to 30 elite players over the age of 18.

Work is expected to complete by the end of 2006.

The NTC will include 16 outdoor courts, covering all the Grand Slam surfaces, 6 indoor courts, a gymnasium and state of the art sports science and medical facilities. It will also house the administration of the LTA, ensuring a complete centre of excellence for British tennis.

John Crowther, Chief Executive of the LTA said: "The National Tennis Centre will bring together the very best coaches and support for Britain's top players and our most promising youngsters."
