Matthew Davies threw glass at another man during drunken dispute
Putney-based Matthew Davies, who described himself as ‘London’s finest finance broker’ on LinkedIn, has been jailed after throwing a glass at another man at a corporate event in the Channel Islands.
30-year-old Davies badly injured Thomas Cummins who was the organiser of the event after a day of heavy drinking this June. He told the court he had previously had ‘professional difficulties’ with Mr Cummins.

His firm Opes specialises in working with wealthy foreigners wanting to acquire property in the UK and Davies work with ‘politically-exposed’ persons from countries such as Russia and the Far East.
A row broke out between the pair at the event which was being hosted by Kleinwort Hambros in Guernsey and the glass was thrown hitting Mr Cummins in the face. The court was shown CCTV footage which showed them talking closely and waving their arms, while witnesses described a heated discussion where the men grabbed hold of each other’s shirt.
Davies pleaded guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding and was sentenced to 18 months in prison at the Royal Court of Guernsey.
The judge described his behaviour as that of ‘a street corner hooligan’.
The court was told that Davies now will need to sell his £1.2million home as his partner can’t meet the mortgage payments.
