Ground Broken on Local Council House Schemes
Work starts on delivery of 26 homes on the Platt Estates and Putney Vale

Ground has been broken on three projects which will deliver 26 new council homes in the SW15 area.
Work has started on sites in the Platt Estates and Putney Vale which are part of the council’s Homes for Wandsworth programme which has a target of over 1,000 units for social rent.
These will include homes for older residents looking to downsize, bigger family homes for those currently in overcrowded accommodation, wheelchair accessible homes, and homes for those with additional needs.
The council says that all of the homes in the programme are built to be as efficient as possible from the outset – ensuring minimal environmental impact and that residents’ bills remain low.
Alongside the new homes, landscape and environmental improvements are promised at each site including bicycle storage facilities, improvements to refuse collection and, as part of the Platt Estates project, a new children’s play area.

Aydin Dikerdem, Cabinet Member for Housing, visited the sites to officially launch each project. He said, “We are building new council rent homes across the borough and small sites like this are a vital part of the Homes for Wandsworth programme, delivering quality homes on compact plots of land. Every new home built is a fresh start for a family and helps to reduce council housing waiting lists.
“Not only that, but every development will also deliver improvements to the local area with, for example, new landscaping, play areas and community facilities.”
