Good news for Putney Mainline Station

in the first wave of feasibility reviews with a view to improving accessibility

Local MP Justine Greening has been highly active lobbying SWT for improvements to our station.

Following the announcement of the forthcoming reviews Justine said:
"I'm very pleased to see that Putney has been classed as high priority for improving station accessibility. I believe it is important that our public transport is accessible to all the public not just those who are able bodied and this was one of the issues I campaigned on during the election. It was one of the first things I raised on becoming an MP with South West trains, so I'm delighted that we've succeeded in making sure that Putney is now high on the list for improving station accessibility.

Obviously, I'll be watching closely to see that the feasibility study really does lead to action being taken to improve the station's access to everyone. Alongside the new ticket machines and the Secretary of State's agreement following my question in the House of Commons last week to make prepay flexible tickets a requirement for the retendering of the South West Franchise, we should see some real improvements in services locally.

Given that we also have agreement from London Underground to put a lift into Southfields Station it means our local rail and tube transport links will be able to be used, hopefully, by everyone locally."
