Putney Bridge Could Make Your Fortune

Long shot for Grand National likely to be popular in SW15

Local bookmakers will be looking forward to good business this Saturday due to the Grand National although they might be in for a shock if a rank outsider defies the odds.

As many people only ever bet in one race per year and often do so on the basis that they like the name, the one sure thing about the betting in this year's National Hunt classic is that many people in the Putney area will be putting their money on long shot Putney Bridge.

The experts all agree that the horse, which is owned by Louise and Keith Goldsworthy, is an unlikely winner of the four and half mile race at Aintree this Saturday with odds of around 100-1 quoted but the bay gelding has won 5 out of its last 8 races so big payouts by local bookies cannot be ruled out.

There are currently 65 horses entered for the race to win record prize money of £950,000.
