Gazette Plans Opening Of Third Restaurant In January

Bringing the 'essence of local french village cafes' to Putney

Following the recent closure of Strada on the Upper Richmond Rd the builders are in and preparing for the opening on 15th January 2014, of the third 'Gazette' owned by Pascal Even & Walter Lecocq.

Currently the restuarants are open in Balham & Battersea, and we understand the same menus will be on offer in Putney. The restaurant will be open from 8am to 11pm.

Gazette is described by owners Pascal and Walter as a rural style of French brasserie, one you’d find in Provincial areas of France.

Pascal is a true “Breton” born in the small fishing village of Paimpol, he started his career with local gastronomic restaurants before making the big move to Paris where he spent time with world class chefs and Parisian cooking star Michel Rostang, taking charge of most of his new ventures. He finally settled for London boosting the Meridien on Piccadilly and Bleeding Heart in Farringdon with great success and acclaim.

Walter’s restaurant experience includes the Manoir aux quat saisons, Alain Ducasse, with the opening of the majority of Ducasse’s early ventures in New York, Paris, Mauritius and London. In London he spent time with Conrad Gallagher and Gordon Ramsay, Walter was also with Irish chef Richard Corrigan for many years as the General Manager of Lindsay House.

Both want it to reflect the spirit of local French cafés and offer a cuisine that is simple, generous and vivacious, with lots of daily specials and on-going food events, and where transpires the warmth and cordiality of true French cuisine.

The restaurant will feature the famous “Welsh” slate table (chalk provided) and a large stone bar counter with charcuterie, Brittany Sea food, cheese, homemade terrines, saucissons and sausages.

The rooms will feature a “Scrabble“ table which will keep diners entertained, a cosy “AGA” library with seating for up to 10 guests, long banquettes and black lace pendants and a suspended garden and African Thdelakht plaster walls.

Gazette will also offer private dining with a room for up to 25 guests overlooking the kitchen.
