Fulham FC Concert Plan Raises Noise Concerns for Putney

Fulham Football Club has launched a public consultation on plans to host up to six large-scale concerts each summer at Craven Cottage, prompting questions about potential noise impacts for residents across the river in Putney. The proposal, part of the club’s broader effort to expand non-matchday use of its riverside stadium, would see events staged in June and July beginning in 2026, with music finishing by 10:30pm and most attendees expected to leave by 11pm.

While the stadium’s matchday capacity is 28,500, concert attendance would be capped at 24,600. The stage would be positioned on the pitch, facing the newly developed Riverside Stand, which directly overlooks the Thames and Putney Embankment. Fulham FC says all infrastructure would be temporary and that noise mitigation measures—including acoustic curtains and sound barriers—would be deployed to keep levels within a 75 dB(A) limit at nearby residential locations.

Noise modelling included in the consultation shows predicted levels at Putney-facing properties such as River Gardens East and West reaching between 73 and 75 dB(A), just within the proposed threshold. These figures are based on a front-of-house sound level of 98 dB(A) inside the stadium, comparable to other London venues like Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Twickenham.

Residents in Putney have previously raised concerns about sound travel across the river during matchdays and other events. The open nature of the riverside and the reflective qualities of water can amplify sound, particularly in warmer months when windows are open and outdoor spaces are in use. The club has committed to setting up a hotline for residents to report concerns during events and says it will not use Bishop’s Park or surrounding public spaces for staging.

The proposal also includes preferential ticket access for residents in selected postcodes and free tickets for local charities. Fulham FC estimates the concerts could generate £1.2 million in visitor spending in Hammersmith & Fulham and support up to 196 full-time equivalent jobs across London.

The public consultation runs until 14 October, with a planning application expected later in the month. If approved, the first concerts could take place in summer 2026. Residents can submit feedback via the club’s website at fulhamfc.com/riverside-development/updates.
