Foodilic offers support for five elderly couples with a complimentary meal each week
Foodilic restaurant has announced that it is to provide free food deliveries to elderly local residents during the Coronavirus outbreak.
Owner, Peter Ilic said: "We are facing a crisis in our city such as we have not seen in our generation. Supermarket shelves are empty. Restaurants and pubs are deserted. People are literally fighting over toilet rolls. These are the stories that are making the headlines.
"But in this time of national hardship, our elderly and vulnerable citizens are the ones hardest hit but least talked about. Many of them are physically unable to leave their homes; others are in self-imposed isolation to avoid infection. They are relying on the kindness of neighbours to get them through but, sadly, our community spirit seems to be wavering".
Peter has decided rather than dwell on the crisis that his restaurant is facing, he wants to focus support on the areas elderly neighbours. Hesaid: "Foodilic restaurant in Putney will be offering five elderly couples within a two-mile radius of our restaurant (85 Putney High Street, London, SW15 1SR) a complimentary meal each week, with different couples chosen each week. We will continue to offer this for as long as we are able".
Those wishing to take advantage of this offer should contact the restaurant on 020 8704 1503 to place an order and arrange a time for delivery (between 12-7PM), and the staff will arrange for it to be dropped to their door.
