Man Assaulted Outside Garratt Lane Library In Unprovoked Attack

Wandsworth Police release CCTV images of suspects

Detectives from Wandsworth are appealing for the public's help after a man was assaulted and left with a broken jaw.

The 31-year-old victim was walking home from work and was by the library in Garratt Lane SW18, close to the Southside Shopping Centre when the two suspects - one of whom was on a mobility scooter attacked him.

The victim was pushed which caused him to fall backwards hitting his head against the pavement. Both suspects along with a female - who was not involved in the attack - then made off towards Wandsworth High Street.

The attack happened on Friday 25th July at about 23:00hrs. A member of the public called police with information that a man was being assaulted by two males - one of whom was on a mobility scooter. However, on police arrival the caller had left the scene.

Despite extensive enquiries detectives have been unable to identify the suspects so are now appealing to the public for assistance.

Detective Constable Chris Taylor, from Wandsworth CID, said: "This attack was completely unprovoked. The victim had just finished the late shift at a local supermarket and was on his way home.

"We know the suspects had been in the Cineworld cinema prior to the offence and came out of the Southside Centre and on to Garratt Lane.

"We are issuing CCTV images of the group and I would hope that someone would be able recognise them."

Suspect 1 is a white male aged 20 to 25. He was wearing black t-shirt and wearing a red baseball cap.

Suspect 2 is a white male aged 40 to 45. He was riding a mobility scooter.
