Police launch murder enquiry in Mortlake


as Police discover stabbed body of woman

Police were called at 22:45 on Thursday 21st April to an address in Mortlake, SW14 following reports of a disturbance.

Officers found the body of a woman, believed to be in her late 20s, in the kitchen. She had been stabbed.

An incident room has opened at Patrick Dunne House under DI Tim GRATTAN-KANE (SCD). Detectives are liasing with British Transport Police regarding the death of 34 year old Jamie Birtwhistle on a rail line near Mortlake Station shortly afterwards

No-one else is being sought in connection with the deaths at this stage.

Post mortems for both are being held on the afternoon of Friday 22nd April at Kingston
Hospital mortuary.
