A wanted offender linked to recent burglary reports in Putney has been arrested after officers from the Thamesfield Safer Neighbourhoods Team were alerted by a member of the public on 30 September. The arrest brings to a close several weeks of concern among residents following sightings of a suspicious individual reported earlier in the monh.
Officers were patrolling the ward when they were waved down by a passer-by worried about a man lying on the pavement. After approaching to check his welfare, one of the officers recognised him as a suspect already wanted for burglary offences. He was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
Police say the man is the same individual connected to multiple sightings and reports submitted by Putney residents after an appeal was issued on 18 September. Information sent via Met Engage, online reporting channels, phone calls and ward inboxes helped officers track the suspect’s movements and ultimately locate him.
The Thamesfield Safer Neighbourhoods Team thanked residents for their vigilance and cooperation, noting that community information played a crucial role in bringing the offender to justice.
Anyone wishing to report a crime can call 101, or 999 in an emergency. Online reporting is available at www.met.police.uk/ro/report.
