West Putney SNT officer arrests cycling youth
On Tuesday 5th August 2008 officers from West Putney SNT were on foot patrol in Roehampton Lane SW15. At approximately 2.25pm they stopped a youth on a pedal cycle.
Checks were completed on the pedal cycle that revealed it had been reported stolen the day before from the car park of Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton Lane.
A 17-year-old youth has subsequently been arrested and charged for Handling Stolen Goods.
Sergeant Eric Ostrowski said: ‘This arrest and charge has come about by pro-active high visibility policing by Safer Neighbourhoods Team officers in an area which the previous day had suffered from a bicycle theft. I must remind anyone who uses a bicycle to make sure that they note down the frame number as this could be crucial in any subsequent identification.’
