A 22 year old man from Fulham has been jailed for robbery following two incidents that occurred in Putney last year.

On 12 January 2006 at 11.30pm, a 34-year-old man got out of a cab in Chelverton Road, Putney. Vuillermet was approaching and stopped talking to his friend (a man who was released without charge) to confront the man and demand his mobile phone. Vuillermet became aggressive but the victim managed to run away before he could rob him.

The man phoned his girlfriend to tell her what happened and she called the police around twenty minutes later after spotting Vuillermet and his friend in Norroy Road. Two women, aged 22 and 23, had just pulled up in a car in Norroy Road when Vuillermet pulled open the driver’s door and told them not to be scared. The two women got out of the car and he became aggressive demanding the younger woman’s phone.She handed him her mobile phone and he ran off after his friend towards Putney Train Station.

A police response unit found Vuillermet and the other man in Flames kebab shop at Putney Train Station.  They tried to run but police arrested them and charged Vuillermet with both offences in March 2006.

Detective Constable Dave Pearl, the investigating officer, said, “The rapid response by the uniformed officers led to the arrest of the man responsible for these crimes.  The officers searched Vuillermet and found the woman’s mobile phone. It was switched off but after tapping in her pin number the phone became active. The combination of rapid response and the seizure of evidence ensured a thorough investigation by CID and a successful conviction at court.”
