Police appeal for witnesses early Sunday morning....
Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a 27-year-old woman was the victim of a violent robbery in Roskell Road, Putney on Sunday, 6th May at 0010 hours.
She left Putney train station and headed up Putney High Street. As she turned into Roskell Road she noticed a silver VW Golf slow down behind her. She kept on walking and saw the car turn round in Felsham Road and head back the way she came from.
Suddenly a man grabbed her from behind and pushed her to the ground. He kicked her in the back and tried to rip the handbag from her shoulder. It was trapped under her body so he kicked her in the face. The strap of the handbag broke and he ran off with her cash and credit cards.
She heard the screeching wheels of a car and believes the man who robbed her was driven away in the silver Golf.
London Ambulance Service attended the scene. She sustained severe bruising and grazes to her back and a lump on the right side of her head that was causing dizziness and headaches.
The suspect is described as a teenage male of approximately 5ft 2” and dressed in a hooded-top and tracksuit bottoms.
Detective Sergeant Andy Gallagher said: “She was attacked from behind and did not get a good look at him, so we want to know more about the silver VW Golf which sped off towards Putney High Street. We suspect it was a new model and we want to know if you have seen it in the local area. The level of violence used is shocking and we need your help to find the people responsible for this.”
No one has been arrested and inquiries continue.
