Grandmother died and two family members seriously injured by bus
42 year old bus driver Ishmail Ahmed has been charged with one count of causing the death
by dangerous driving and two counts of GBH following the fatal accident in April 2007 in East Sheen.
Three generations of the same family were involved in a road accident involving the 209 bus that Mr Ahmed was driving.
The incident occurred on North Worple Way at 9.48 on 25th April 2007. The three women were believed to be standing on the pavement when hit by the bus. They were taken to hospital but 65 year old Elizabeth Panton died. Her granddaughter who is believed to be aged between 2 and 3 is in a critical condition and the child's mother is in a stable condition.
The dead womanwas named as Elizabeth Panton from Shropshire, who was visiting her daughter. She is the mother-in-law of Conservative MP Richard Bacon.
Mr Ahmed will has been bailed to appear at Richmond MC on 8th October 2007.
