Police dismiss reports that teenages were joy-riding
A double funeral for William Mead and Michael Harry took place at Holy Trinity Church, Brook Green, W6 on Friday 17th November at 10.15am. The two teenage boys were killed and another friend was seriously injured after collision on Rocks Lane on 9th November.
In the early hours of the 9th November a green Citroen ZX Advantage was in collision with an empty parked car in Old London Rd, Kingston.
The Citroen failed to stop at the scene and at around 2.40am was in collision with a tree in Rocks Lane, Barnes SW13.
The driver and front seat passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.They were identified as
William Mead aged 17 of Richford St W6 and Michael Stephen Harry aged 18 of Lime Grove, Shepherd's Bush. Another 18 year old male passenger was taken to a west London hospital with a leg injury. His condition is understood to be stable.
Sgt Mark Drummond, from the Collision Investigation Unit at Hampton, said,
"I am aware there have been suggestions that this was a joyriding incident and would like to make it clear that this was definitely not the case. We are also still very keen to hear from anyone who witnessed either of the collisions in Old London Rd, Kingston and Rocks Lane, SW13."
Police would also like to hear from anyone who saw the car - a green 'M' reg Citroen ZX- travelling between Old London Rd, Kingston and Rocks Lane between approximately 02.30 and 02.40 on Thursday 9.11.06. We believe it travelled via Kingston Hill onto the A3 and then left along Roehampton Lane.
