Police appeal for witnesses & information
Police are appealing for information and witnesses following a serious assault outside Flames kebab shop in Putney High Street on Sunday, 24 September 2006, at approx 0044 hours.
Flames kebab shop is close to Putney train station and police attended the scene at 0047 hours to find a 35-year-old man unconscious on the street. LAS took the victim to a west London hospital.
It's thought that the victim was walking away from a heated discussion he was having with some men in Flames kebab shop, who followed him out on to the street and carried out the assault.
One of the suspects is described as a white man, 6ft - 6ft 3in tall, with dark hair and of a muscular build, wearing a black shirt with a logo, blue jeans and trainers. He was seen walking away from the scene towards Putney Bridge.
It's thought one or more of the suspects spoke with an Australian or South African accent.
DC Nick White from Battersea CID said:
"We are actively investigating the details behind this serious assault and appeal for anyone who was there or has details of this crime to come forward to the police or make an anonymous report via Crimestoppers.
"We are investigating the possibility that one or more of the suspects were driven away by two women in a blue car towards Putney Bridge Road."
A 40-year-old man from Merton was arrested in connection with this serious assault and has been bailed to return to a Wandsworth police station pending further inquiries.
