As removal of crane closes South Circular from High Street to Oxford Road

Traffic Chaos Feared in Putney This Weekend

The Upper Richmond Road from Putney High Street to Oxford Road will be closed this weekend.

The road will be shut from 7am on Saturday 16 April to 8pm on Sunday including overnight to allow a construction crane at 113 Upper Richmond Road to be moved off the site.

The company handling the closure, Metro Transport Services, say that it is possible the road may reopen a few hours earlier but they cannot make a firm commitment on this.

There will also be a lane Closure on the West Hill Approach To Upper Richmond Road. The diversion will be via West Hill And Putney Hill according to roadworks.org.

Local residents had a flier delivered by Metro Traffic Services but as local resident Patricia Poulter pointed out on the forum on this web site, "This information has been circulated locally but it is not only going to affect East Putney residents. I hope that Metro Traffic Services will be on hand to direct the traffic better than they have in the past( for the cycle race)."

When we asked Metro Traffic Services about the lack of publicity for the closure they said that Transport for London (TfL) were responsible for contacting the media. When we approached TfL they referred us back to Metro Traffic Services.

Be prepared for delays, drivers are being made aware by the signs on the street (see above) - it has been pointed out that Chelsea FC are playing at home to Manchester City on Saturday.
