On 4 February the number of new people tested positive for Covid-19 in London was reported as 3,268 bringing the total number of cases in London to over 668,000.

This compares to a figure of 3,408,879 cases for England as a whole

In the most recent week of complete data, 24 January 2021 - 30 January 2021, 26,210 cases were identified in London, a rate of 292 cases per 100,000 population. This compares with 42,452 cases and a rate of 474 for the previous week.

Experts believe that the fall is not due to the vaccination programme because it is too early for its effect to be seen in infection rates but it will have an impact later on.
