Sylvie will be one of thirteen volunteers to be presented with awards at the annual ceremony at City Hall.

The Director of Resources, Keith Luck and the Policing and Equalities Director, Lee Jasper will attend the Metropolitan Police Volunteer Awards.

One exceptional prizewinner will receive an exclusive award to mark the outstanding impact they have made in reducing crime in their community and for their personal commitment to active citizenship.

The winner will be announced on the evening and has not been told that they have won the award.

The Met Police Volunteer Awards were introduced in 1999 to encourage recognition of the role and contribution of volunteers in the Organisation and in 2002 the awards were extended to include volunteers from outside agencies who support the Met in a variety of ways.

Around 2,700 people volunteer for the Met in some capacity and last year gave in excess of 450,000 hours of service.

Of particular note is the contribution made following the terrorist incidents of July when volunteers readily gave up their time to assist. Special Constables gave over 5000 hours of service after the bombings of 7th July and attempted bombings on 21st July.
