Alexandra, who has never run a marathon before, has decided to raise money for the Soldiers’ Charity, a fitting cause as her boss is Minister for the Armed Forces.

The charity, formerly known as the Army Benevolent Fund gives lifetime support, to serving and retired soldiers and their families. The scope of their work is huge and includes helping individuals in areas such as debt relief, mobility assistance, education bursaries and care home fees.

“Our soldiers risk so much - both home and abroad – to keep our country free. They do so without hesitation and without question and it is only fitting that they should be looked after when their job is done” says Alexandra.

“This is why I have chosen to raise money for the Soldiers' Charity, to say thank you to all those soldiers for their courage and their dedication and most importantly, for keeping us safe.”

Alexandra has already started training up to five days a week, much of which is taking place along the banks of the River Thames, either on the weekends along to Hammersmith and Barnes, or to and from her work in parliament.

Alexandra has so far raised over £1000 for the Soldiers’ Charity and if you wish to sponsor her, you may do so online.
