Crumbling Gothic Revival chapels sympathetically restored ensuring sustainable future

Shortlisted to one of six finalists are the two crumbling Gothic Revival chapels by PUtney Common, which have been sympathetically restored and converted into a private dwelling, ensuring a sustainable future for the building.



All building submissions were again judged by the The Alliance for Sustainable Building Products's (ASBP) experienced board members and assessed against the ASBP’s “Six Pillars of Sustainable Construction”: Health and well-being, resource efficiency, whole-life carbon, ethics and transparency, technical performance and social value.

Roger Mears Architects utilised traditional techniques and kept internal alterations to a minimum in order to preserve the historic integrity of the chapels.

The ASBP Awards 2020 are open to construction projects from across the UK built environment sector that were completed and handed over by July 2019. The ASBP Awards 2020 overall winners and commended projects will be announced at the ASBP’s 4th Healthy Buildings Conference and Expo which will take place in London on Thursday 27 February.
