Consultation Opens On Changes To Bus Routes

Tell TfL what you think of the proposals for the 14 and 22 buses

A consultation has opened on proposals to change various bus routes in London, including the 14 and 22 which serve Putney.

Putney gets off relatively lightly compared to other areas with no services being lost entirely but some routes are being curtailed or rerouted. As part of a plan to reduce congestion around Tottenham Court Road Route 14 will now terminate at Russell Square rather than Warren Street. Route 22 will no longer serve Oxford Circus and will now terminate at Piccadilly Circus.

The 22 changes is classified as a 'route restructuring' and the changes to 14 routes as a route 'curtailment (shortening a route)'.

The consultation document states that TfL, " These proposed changes would help to make the bus network simpler and more efficient and would ensure our resources are invested in the right locations. These proposals are subject to a public consultation and we are keen to hear your thoughts on how these changes could impact on you."

In response to the launch of Transport for London’s consultation on bus services in London, local London Assembly Member, Leonie Cooper AM, said: “These proposed changes will have implications for a number of commuters, so I'll be urging TfL to keep the overall level of disruption to a minimum.

“We know that there is a need to balance demand for bus services across London whilst helping to reduce congestion and air pollution on the busiest streets in the capital. However, during the upcoming consultation, it is essential that TfL listen carefully to any concerns local people might have towards these proposals.

“TfL must come forward with robust plans to mitigate any problems that might arise for passengers with disabilities or mobility issues. “Over the coming months, I will be holding TfL to account on this.”

The consultation runs until 9 November.
