Chelsea star tells 8-year-old William he is going to take a penalty at Stamford Bridge
Putney youngster William thought his dream had come true when he won a prize to compete against his dad in a penalty shoot out at Stamford Bridge. He is going to be on the pitch at half-time in Chelsea’s game today (10 March) against Crystal Palace after winning a BridgeKids competition in which five lucky supporters to get to take on their parents. BridgeKids, is the club’s free membership for young fans.
Eight-year-old William’s dad Matt knew that the Chelsea mascots Stamford and Bridget were going to pay them a visit at their home in Putney. What he didn’t know is that they would have an accomplice with them. Chelsea defender and Brazilian World Cup star David Luiz turned up as well.
David Luiz had come to their house to tell them William was a competition winner and they had been chosen to captain the two penalty-taking teams – the team of youngsters and the team of adults.
William said, “I was quite surprise when he walked in. This is one of the best days of my life. Thank you Chelsea.”
