New Documentary About Putney Photographer

Clive Boursnell has been photographing Covent Garden Market since 1967

Award-winning digital portrait of a city 1000 Londoners www.1000londoners.com today (10 August) , releases its 225th short documentary about photographer Clive Boursnell.

#225 is Putney resident Clive who has been photographing Covent Garden Market ever since 1967 before it relocated south of the river. 1000 Londoners is the most in-depth and expansive documentary series ever produced about the city. Each Thursday, at 1000londoners.com, viewers are able to watch a three-minute film about a new Londoner. The range of stories is as diverse as the city itself. The series includes stories such as Leni whose flat burned down in London’s 2011 riots, David who captains the Woolwich Ferry, political mural artist Brian Barnes OBE, transgender magician Victoria and Samson an ex-gang member now born again Christian.

Local filmmaker, Rachel Wang caught up with Clive one very early morning at New Covent Garden Market to find out why he is still so passionate about documenting the market.

Rachel commented: “I wanted to find out more about Clive’s unique perspective on the market’s changing landscape and its recent rebirth in Nine Elms”.

Over the years, Clive has established a close relationship with the market sellers, they trust
him and allow him a rare glimpse under the skin of the market and its traders. “I wasn't what they called a fair-weather photographer. I was there in the pissing rain, I was there on cold, snowy mornings, I was there when it was just plain miserable, as well as the wonderful sunshine,” explains Clive.
