Residents who use an electric blanket can have them tested at a free safety check up organised by the council and the local fire brigade.
Electric blanket clinics will be held at Wandsworth Fire Station in West Hill on Wednesday, October 17 and Thursday, October 18.
People who use an electric blanket are being urged to have them checked. The fire brigade says faulty ones cause around 5,000 fires every year.
Chief trading standards officer Les Eames said: “These checks are carried out very quickly and they are free of charge. I would urge anyone who uses an electric blanket to have it tested. It could save your life.”
