Putney Café Wins Best Breakfast Award

It's official Tried & True offers the most innovative breakfast in the country!

Tried & Truecafé was awarded the Best Breakfast Award for their BBQ Pulled Pork Benedict on Wednesday 29th January 2014. The awards, taking place as part of Farmhouse Breakfast Week, recognise the growing trend of eating breakfast out, with 1 in 4 consumers doing so each week, according to research by Mintel research.

Tried & True entered their BBQ Pulled Pork breakfast believing their popular dish – consisting of spice rubbed pork tossed in their own smokey BBQ sauce and served with homemade jalapeno cheddar cornbread and poached free range eggs with chilli butter and spring onions - is a great start to the day. And it appears the public couldn’t agree more as they placed their votes for this unusual breakfast!

Rob Kelly, Owner of Tried & True, a café bringing a touch of New Zealand to London, said:“We are overjoyed at winning this award. We created this breakfast dish to be the ultimate breakfast with a difference and it is now our signature breakfast offering. It is a combination of Antipodean and North American breakfast cultures. We know our customers love our BBQ Pulled Pork Benedict, it is extremely popular at the weekends but it’s lovely to know that they have taken the time to vote for us and we would like to thank them all.”

The Best Breakfast Awards competition was open to food venues of all types across the country with category options of hot, cold and most innovative breakfast.

Karen Levy, Marketing Executive from HGCA, organisers of the awards said:“We would like to congratulate Tried & True for their fabulous breakfast. We had thousands of votes for the hundreds of dishes that were entered into the awards as customers showed their support for their local venue. These awards set out to highlight the range of breakfasts available when eating out whether that be at a café, farm shop, restaurants or hotel. We know that Britain is great at doing breakfast but Tried & True have shown that there are other countries that are pretty good at it too.”
