A fun evening with wine canapes and a cookery demonstration
The Avenue Cookery School is based in central Putney but is hidden away behind the high walls of The Mission Hall. It is renowned for its courses aimed at gap year students, ski chalet hopefuls but this week it introduced its services to local business.
Corporate bonding days are sometimes dreaded by staff for whom paint balling & other outdoor activities holds nothing but fear or repulsion! Perhaps bonding over baking, confidence building over canapes and strategy planning over the sweet recipes may be a refreshing way forward - especially when you all sit down with your creations with a glass or more of wine!
Guests this week sampled numerous canapes created that day by the students and were treated to a demonstration by Diana Horsford with the aid of three Jamie's from the audience. Far more glamorous that Delia or Nigella, Diana entertained the audience with tips and advice whilst she showed how simple canapes can be.
The evening was a great success - the canapes were wolfed up by the local corporate guests and our hosts with their impeccable CV's from Cordon Bleu, The Grange & Leith's were incredibly warm and welcoming.
Jo Giddins of the school said:
“It was amazing to see how many businesses are being run in Putney and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting some of their representatives who we would love to see back at The Avenue, whether it be for evening courses, Christmas fun days or a spot of wine tasting with canapés – or any team building session to entertain their employees!”
I may not be part of a large enough team for 'corporate bonding' but I have signed up for their forthcoming evening event of Wine Tasting & Canapes - and hope that during the festive season any snack I offer may have more pizzazz than the usual crisps & nuts on offer!
