The motorcylist involved in a crash on Roehampton Lane on Monday has died in the early hours of this morning (10 January).

The man in his early sixties was in a collision with a car at the entrance to Queen Mary's Hospital shortly before 9.20am.

He was taken to a south London hospital by London's Air Ambulance in a critical condition before he died.

Although he has not been formally identified his next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene, they were not arrested and are assisting detectives with their enquires. Forensic Collision Investigators conducted skid tests after a collision as part of their reconstruction (see video below).

Delays continued as the road remained closed while the police conducted tests and reconstructions of the accident. This increased the already substantial amount of traffic disruption in the earlier resulting from the tube strike.

The unusual quality of the image above is according to the police 'purposely taken to retain integrity of investigation and identity of vehicles'.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Merton traffic Garage on 0208 543 5157 or via 101 or @MetCC
Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
