You could win a pair of tickets to see her at the Half Moon
Ten years ago she climbed the career ladder with the substance of a great singer destined for big success. She played such fab venues as London’s Ronnie Scott’s for 6 consecutive sell-out nights and the release of her first album “In Your Eyes” was received with much respect and admiration. Bridget had the talent for writing, recording and performing original soul with an added dash of jazz for good measure. The Reviews were excellent and audiences loved her fresh and honest performance style.
With all the major chains including Sainsbury’s, Virgin and HMV selling the album, the future looked rosy. These were catchy songs, with a genuine soul feel and a wide audience appeal. She was making waves.
Then, out of the blue, Bridget’s success was brought to a sharp halt by a series of brain seizures. She was left with memory loss and the ongoing threat of more seizures. The future suddenly didn’t seem so bright. But Bridget is made of strong stuff. She set about rebuilding life and began to relearn all her own songs; the musical arrangements, the tempos and the lyrics. She then began to write and record once again too.
“The bleak reality was that my epilepsy could have ended everything. So, I decided to pick myself up, I dusted myself down and started all over again!” she laughs. She’s now been free of seizures for more than 2 years and her euphoric zest for life is obvious. It’s this that feeds the soul musicwhich clearly comes from within.
Along the way she has worked with such luminaries as the producers for Imagination, Spandau Ballet & Alison Moyet and most recently Chaz Jankel of The Blockheads, right hand man to Ian Dury.
In 2006 she put together a new band. The concert dates gradually began to take off. “I wanted to wait until the new band was kicking and I was stronger than ever before returning to the London gig scene”. With that determination, she’s now back in London, appearing at The Half Moon.
