Wild In The City is the beautiful new book by Putney photographer Andrew Wilson
A first glance at this celebration of the open spaces of Putney, Barnes & Richmond from Andrew Wilson whets your appetite for the magnificent photos marking both seasons & wildlife on our doorstep including many an ahhh moment!
This sumptuous book will grace any "coffee table" not only for Christmas but in the years ahead. Not a guide as such although it manages to combine historical and nature facts combined with charming hand drawn illustrated maps by Julianna Franchetti.
Printed on FSC paper the book is both pleasing on the eye and the enviroment and a must for a gift for that local friend or neighbour this Christmas.
Did you know that a pair of kestrels nest in a tree on the Leg o' Mutton nature reserve in Barnes - in fact for some it will be a location unknown to many residents as they drive past this "hidden gem" assuming the trees simply banked the Thames.
If I have to find criticism then it would be great to have more Putney areas covered. Putney Common & the Embankment would I am sure give great images - but then living in West Putney I may be biased!
Andrew has taken these fabulous images whilst walking his springer spaniel Josie and has kindly offered a signed copy of the book and an image from the book to one lucky member of PutneySW15.com. For a chance to win firstly make sure you are a registered member of the site. (If you are not click here and quickly !)
