St John Bosco College
St John Bosco College is a brand new Catholic school that opened in September 2011. It will admit up to 120 girls and boys each year and, from 2012, it will include the first Sixth Form in a Catholic school in Wandsworth. The school combines the highest academic standards with a strongly supportive ethos, at the heart of which is the teaching of the Catholic Church and the educational approach of Saint John Bosco. Pupils enjoy a school life that is supported by prayer, worship and excellent chaplaincy provision. The school specialises in business and enterprise and, through its rich modern languages provision, is forging local, national and global links.
The school replaces John Paul II School and Salesian College, which both closed in July 2011. Currently, the pupils are taught on the site of the former John Paul II School in Princes Way, Wimbledon. It is the ambition of Wandsworth Council, the Archdiocese of Southwark and the Salesians of Don Bosco that, subject to the necessary funding, the school will move into new, purpose built accommodation, with leading-edge ICT facilities and a Business and Enterprise Skills Centre, on the site of the former Salesian College in Surrey Lane, Battersea, by the 2014-15 academic year.
