Over Flow on Chiswick High Road Pavement

Morning AllHeaded to Chiswick high for a coffee this morning on my Crutches 🩼 after a  bad Fall .Never noticed before to be honest but the overflow on the Pavements makes some parts of it a tight squeeze.From restaurants to Pubs and stalls I know it’s tough out there for everyone but just be carefull.and doesn’t help with people having the heads down on the mobile phone.

Nice to see And and Dec visiting Shooting Stars Children's Hospice. Unfortunately due to the nasty party? they and many others have now got to fundraise and find tens of thousands of extra £s for the coming NI rise. As people are saying, this GVMT is worse than the one they took over from but get away with it. The above is an absolute disgrace. And for what gains ? Even those on here attacking the past GVMT with names have gone missing.

Chiswick High Road closed eastbound until Wednesday outside The Gunnersbury PH

Chiswick High Road is closed to vehicular traffic eastbound outside The Gunnersbury PH. Notices at local bus stops state that this will be until 5pm on Wednesday 19th March.Local buses are diverted eastbound only. The 110, 237, 267, H91 and N9 are diverted from Chiswick Roundabout via the A4 and Sutton Court Road to re-join their route at Turnham Green Church.

New emission-based parking charges

I have to groan at the complexity of the scheme, and the huge potential for innocent mistakes being punished with vast financial penalties. I know local authorities are strapped for cash, and also that we have to save the planet. But parking charges are effectively a rental for space occupied, and I don't really see what emissions have to do with that.

Green waste collection - beware of spivs offering their services

Interesting to see Hounslow council pushing for residents to sign up for the paid for green waste collection service. Ealing council did just that (with the usual price increase) and then proceeded to declare that no-one used the service from December to end February so they were ending it. Whoopee, a 12 month paid for service reduced to a 9 month one for the same money. Odds on how long it will take for the Labour grandees in Hounslow to do the same?

Is starmer in trouble

We will have to wait to see if this runs and grows on monday

Towpath

Please could someone tell me if the towpath between Kew and Richmond is now open? I know that a part of it washed away last year, but I haven’t read that it has been fixed yet. Thank you

Chiswick Cinema

I knew this would happen and told people it was a crazy idea as every time  I've visited you walk past the bar for founder members and you will be lucky to see more than 4 people in it. Well, when I have visited anyway. And the chance of getting a founder membership i believe was a long waiting list. Now they have opened the bar to everyone, which is good news for all rather than sitting in the main entrance lobby which is a little like sitting in a staff canteen Im guessing people will not be taking out founder membership now ? http://www.chiswickw4.com/default.asp?section=info&page=rambertcinema040.htm

Furniture repair/restoration

Can anyone recommend a furniture restorer who can repair a damaged stool (usually used as a dressing table stool)? One of the legs is about to collapse. It also needs new upholstery - which has not been changed since my mother married in 1946.

GTECH Stadium light pollution

The past two weeks the night sky around the stadium has been lit up bright orange and not just in the heavy fog nights. Birds are signing at night and if you live near by you get a disturbed nights sleep. This issue was raised years ago by the community groups around the UV lights being turned on all night in winter.  What action if any has been taken to address this? As was highlighted this was not part of the original planning permission.

Double by-election in Brentford could spell trouble for Labour

Two by-elections have been called in two wards in Brentford both currently held by Labour. They should be fairly safe seats but the timing of these votes is a disaster for them. I think I am right in saying it comes as people who previously qualified for council tax support will be finding out how much extra they have to pay.
