Damp proofing

Any recommendations would be much appreciated. I’m considering a company called Dampstar based in Chiswick. Thanks in advance.

It is many a moon since I used them but I was very impressed with Tiffin, not least because they said much of the work that other companies quoted for was unnecessary. When we moved twenty-five years later the house was still damp free. Tiffin claim to have been going for centuries though they seem to have undergone a bit of a rebranding since my experience.They are now "Ecotiffin" for what it's worth.Worth asking though.https://www.ecotiffin.co.uk/service/damp-proofing/

Jill, Bruce makes a good point regarding some firms 'finding' and quoting for unnecessary damp.I have quite a lot of past experience in recommending firms to clients and it was a job to get sound advice.If you get stuck try calling into a few local estate agents to ask who they recommend. A consensus of reliable firms hopefully will come to the fore.

Not wishing to contradict Adrian but certain damp treatment companies pay commission to estate agents for recommending them. One of those who did (i dont know if they still do) wrote reports that were incorrect and recommended work that wasn't necessary. They are a very well known firm and I recently had cause to go round a house they'd reported on to check their report. They are still up to their old tricks

I’m guessing the company begins with an F? Without any positive recommendations, I think I’ll just have to ring a couple of companies and get some quotes. Many thanks.

David I take your point, there are always bad apples in any field however a good agent will  value their reputation far more than a few quid from a firm that didn't offer excellent service.
