Gabriella Giles Has the tide turned?

Councillor Gabriella asks if she’s done a bad job so that Riverside now has a Green , Labour and Conservative team of councillors, rather than three conservative.. No of course she hasn’t . It’s just a sign that party politics and allegiances do not serve communities well. She points to “Labour” council not looking after the river wall. To us , and it should be, just “The Council” not looking after the riverbank infrastructure. The people want good public servants, like Gabriella continues to be, regardless of party. For local communities, priorities  should not be national manifesto driven but through consensus, wisdom and common sense

Perhaps there is a bit of survivor's guilt following the departure of two of her colleagues over the last election but, either way, it was very gratifying to read about the passion that people who represent us put into the role.While she may be a bit demoralised by her party's losses in the ward she should take solace in the confidence place in her by the electorate and some comfort that the councillors from other parties, while they might differ on policy, seem to match their predecessors in commitment.

To us , and it should be, just “The Council” But the council is run by Labour, and holding them to account, scrutinising decisions, while representing residents who did not vote them in. Those who represent locals, be it Conservative, Lib Dem or Greens, don't make executive decisions on the daily running of the Labour council. So on that note,i think she is correct in what she says
