Chiswick Homefields Park

Homefields Park is very quirky, isn't it?Obviously it's split into two wildly unequal halves by the A4.But I go there a lot and there are a couple of things that have always bothered me.  Does anybody know why there is only one rugby goal there?  A peculiarly useless thing you'd think.Also what the two concrete strips in the grass on the east side of the park are?  Sort of like runways but a thousandth as long.

I suspect the concrete strips have something to do with the construction of the Great West Road that divided the Recreation Ground in the early 50's. Adjacent to Chiswick Lane there were a number of Prefabs built after the war built to home bombed out families.

I think they're a bit too near the edge of the park to be cricket pitches.  They're right next to the hedge.  The bowler would have to start his runup in someone's garden.Also there are two of them, they are parallel to each other.

"Also what the two concrete strips in the grass on the east side of the park are?"Could they be cricket pitches ? Putting matting on a concrete strip to make a wicket was once quite a common practice.
