The Bedford Park festival.

I attended the fete today which was being held over the weekend on Acton Green.It was an amazing sight. A wide variety of stalls,a hugh funfair for youngsters ... including dodgem cars,big crowds enjoying the fine weather etc.It was a credit to the organisers ... and very worthy of being acknowledged on the Chiswick Forum!Oldies may remember the fairground that was held next to Kew Bridge60 odd years ago. Honestly it was nothing compared to Acton Green today!

"i'm baffled by Julian Pavey's comments - if he hasn't been for years, I'm not surprised he hasn't noticed all the changes" Torin, you and others do a great job prior to, this event with you even walking around putting up banners and posters prior to the day. But to your comment, I don't see much change, and I'm not the only one. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the event, but it needs a revamp in my opinion. You're always going to get good crowds as the area invites new people. I sadly don't see those of the past or people I know, and that's quite a few. Anyway, my main point was not picked up by your good self. Toilets?

I think it was the best ever - more people, more support from local businesses, more fun all round. Some of us like the fact that is the same every year.  That's not strictly true , this year Fudge's bikes was there and other small stalls, the craft stalls were in 2 marquees, Sipsmiths was there, the refreshments were moved elsewhere...a few small changes.

I maybe shot down for putting this but if youdon't say anything,nothing is taken onboardfor next year.So,I know so many people including families who no longer attend.The main reason is It's the same,same every year. Nothing really changesLiving on the Avenue,it's the first time inmany years that I've gone this time around.The people behind the scenes do a great jobto get this organised and up and running.One might rejig it so it at least does notLook the same,if still the same on offer.Secondly,the toilet situation is not great.EspecialyIf you have young children.Portaloos need to be in place and kept clean ratherthan a que at the church or the pub.I do know one of the above I believe was mentioned at a prior meeting.But all in all,good and those who attendenjoy the day

It is always a fantastic weekend, particularly blessed with fine weather as it was this year. It seems to become more slick and professional every year without losing the community feel.The one sad thing was when Torin Douglas explained there would be no fancy dress contest as there were too few entrants. Perhaps a function of demographic change in Chiswick. The average age of attendees does seem to be rising particularly as the football tournament is no longer being held.

I was selling in the Craft Marquee all weekend and have done so for many years. The Green Days weekend is my favourite craft event of my whole year. It is so incredibly well supported by the local community and the volunteers do a magnificent job. It is such hard and time consuming work to put on a huge weekend like this.Thank you to everyone who came and especially those who bought from me, I appreciate every single sale from you.
