There also used to be Hippobags or similar which the DIY shops sell.

Re the 5 items, what if you have something like the remains of a dismantled shed to dispose of? If they could somehow be boxed up securely I'm assuming that that would be okay. Anybody know?Re original message - it makes you wonder why nobody is answering the phone. Is anybody actually working in the office?
If your furniture is usable and has appropriate fire labels try https://www.wearetrinity.org.uk/furniture/Have a look at the website to see if they can help.

I easily booked them to come via the new system. They take 5 items for a small fee and they have to be outside your property at 6 am on the collection day.I offered my furniture first to BHF and they took a few items but were very fussy re condition and fire labels.

LB Hounslow is one of the group of London boroughs making up the West London Waste Authority (WLWA). Have you tried accessingvthem via the WLWA website?https://westlondonwaste.gov.uk/
Have you checked whether your sofas are suitable for the British Heart Society or Sue Ryder to sell?Hounslow upsed to used TRAID to collect furniture but TRAID now seem to now be concentrating on collecting clothing and are referring on to the above two charities.
Hounslow are a bit hopeless about this it says book online but in the small print it says online bookings are not yet online and to telephone them. They are very behind the times and I can't understand why.

It looks like hanging on the phone is the only option. From my limited experience in dealing with Hounslow Council the best bet can be to call the main switchboard and explain your problem. If you're lucky someone helpful will guide you through the maze. No guarantees though.
