Marmite

I very rarely but Marmite but I've just finished a jar.  There's no reference as to how to dispose it: is it glass or plastic?

Yes the squeezy ones you store upside down are plastic. Others are glass. “ traditional Marmite is sold in iconic, bulbous brown glass jars, a design in use since the 1920s. These amber-colored jars protect the vitamins inside from light. While glass is standard, some newer or specific, smaller versions may occasionally use plastic for convenience”

My 250g traditional shape but blue topped salt reduced iconic dark brown marmite jars are glass.  They say "widely recycled" on the yellow label on the top. Since they don't say "cap on" I would rinse the jar and leave the cap off and presume that the lid is large enough to recycle separately.My Marmite has not passed its Best Before date but even if it had I'd still be eating it because that is just a Best Before date and not a Use By one.I think there are some small squeezy plastic Marmite containers around but I won't be buying those unless I'm desperate and thinking of taking one on holiday with me.
